Analysis of USA Birth Rate (2016 - 2021)
The goal of this analysis is to understand and monitor population growth trends in the USA, identify states with increasing numbers of births, and identify how education influences fertility rate.
Key Insights:
✪ The birth trend declined from 2016-2020 and then increased in 2021.
✪ Gender by birth is almost even, with about 52% Males and 49% Females.
✪ Birth weight also declined across the years.
✪ The higher a state's population, the higher the number of births.
✪ The higher a mother’s educational attainment the fewer the number of children they tend to have.
Recommendations:
✪ The government should ensure that economic fluctuations do not affect fertility choices.
✪ Take into account migration patterns, as immigration and emigration can affect the local birth rate. Immigrants may have different fertility behaviors compared to the native population.
✪ Assess the effects of government policies on birth rates, such as maternity/paternity leave, child benefits, and family planning programs. Evaluate the correlation between these policies and fertility rates over time.
